Funding for Lake Associations

The following funding programs are commonly used by lake associations and their partners to develop and implement water quality and watershed protection projects. Funding opportunities and eligibility vary by program and applicant.

604(b) Water Quality Management Planning Grants — Supports water quality planning activities, including assessment and development of watershed-based plans that identify water quality concerns and actions needed to address them.
Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) — Provides low-cost financing and, through certain funding categories, principal forgiveness for eligible water quality projects. Funding opportunities vary depending on the type of project and applicant. KCSWCD's CWSRF projects are funded through the Standalone Stormwater (SW) & Nonpoint Source (NPS) Management Plans component of the program.
319 Nonpoint Source Grants — Supports implementation of watershed-based plans through projects that address nonpoint source pollution and restore or protect water quality. A watershed-based plan accepted by DEP and EPA is required for 319 implementation funding, and projects must be located in a Nonpoint Source Priority Watershed.

As stewards of our local environment, Kennebec County Soil & Water Conservation District (KCSWCD) actively pursues innovative grant-funded projects that address critical conservation challenges. The following projects represent our current and recent efforts to protect and enhance our region's natural resources, watersheds, and ecological systems.
