State Envirothon Results
We had a great time at the Maine State Envirothon held on May 29th at the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine Outdoor Education Center this year.
Thank you to all who attended, and to all of our volunteers who kept everything running smoothly. A huge thank you to our sponsors, who have provided financial support to make these competitions possible.
This year, we had 14 teams attending the state competition.
From the Southwestern Region, we had two teams from Spruce Mountain High School.
From the Midcoast Region, we had three teams, including two teams from Mt. Ararat High School, and one team from Tri-County Technical Center.
From the Northern Region, we had one team from Lee Academy.
From the Downeast Region, we had a total of eight teams: three teams from Hampden Academy, two teams from Old Town High School, and one team each from Maine Academy of Natural Sciences, Mt. View High School, and Belfast High School.
Thank you all for a successful season.
The Envirothon is an important educational competition that challenges high school students to develop a deeper understanding of environmental science, natural resource management, and conservation practices. By participating, students build critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while becoming stewards of their local environment.
The winners for the State Envirothon competition were:
First place – Maine Academy of Natural Sciences (MeANS)
Second place – Spruce Mountain High School (Team 1)
Third place – Old Town High School (Team 2)
Congratulations to MeANS, who have been invited to compete at the international competition in Calgary, Alberta, Canada!
