Tree ID & Why It Matters Workshop – September 17, 2025

Thank you to everyone who attended our Tree ID & Why It Matters workshop in partnership with Viles Arboretum! It was wonderful to see so many participants eager to learn how to identify local trees and understand their ecological importance.

Participants on the guided walk learning about tree identification and local tree history.

A special thank you to Jared Gregory for his engaging presentation and to David Greenham of Viles Arboretum for providing historical context for some of the trees. We also appreciate Jared’s partnership through the Maine Forest Service Outreach Grant, which allowed us to provide the Forest Trees of Maine, Centennial Edition 1908–2008 tree identification guides to all attendees at no cost. Participants joined a guided walk through the arboretum, where the presenter shared information about tree identification and other details about the trees.

If you’re interested in future workshops, including another Tree ID session planned for the spring, please let us know or join our mailing list to stay updated.
