Welcome to the Maine Envirothon Advisor Resources page. This page is designed to help advisors navigate the competition season, find important program information, and connect students with the resources they need to prepare.
Throughout the season, this page will serve as a central location for competition information, advisor guidance, and preparation materials. Updates to rules, website resources, training opportunities, the Current Issue, and competition details will be shared through the Maine Envirothon blog. Important announcements and competition information will also be sent directly to participating schools.
The most up-to-date competition rules, eligibility requirements, and procedures can always be found on the Maine Envirothon Rules page.
Current Issue
The Current Issue is an important part of the Maine Envirothon competition and challenges students to research, analyze, and develop solutions to a current environmental topic. Teams prepare a poster and presentation that communicate their understanding of the issue and proposed solutions.
Current Issue materials are expected to be available in December 2026 for the 2026–2027 competition season.

Additional Training & Support
The following organizations provide educational resources and training opportunities related to Envirothon topics. Availability varies by season and location.

Forestry:
Reach out to your Maine Forest Service District Forester for forestry education
opportunities, field experiences, and technical expertise.

Wildlife:
Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife provides educator resources,
wildlife education programs, loaner materials, and other opportunities for
students and teachers.
Maine IF&W Teacher & Educator Resources -
Aquatic Ecology:
Maine Audubon provides environmental education programs and resources related
to wildlife, habitats, and aquatic ecosystems.

Soils & Land Use:
Contact your local Soil & Water Conservation District for conservation
education opportunities, local resources, and information about available
programs in your area.

The Maine Envirothon also provides regional trainings in the fall and a central spring training day that cover many of the competition topics. Wildlife, Aquatic Ecology, and Forestry are included in both training opportunities, while Soils & Land Use is currently offered only through Fall Field Days.
For students looking for additional hands-on preparation, these training events are a great opportunity to learn from natural resource professionals, practice identification skills, and gain experience with competition activities.
