2026 Envirothon Season
Students creating name tags at the Maine State Envirothon.
The 2026 Maine Envirothon season, coordinated statewide by the Kennebec County Soil & Water Conservation District, included four regional qualifiers hosted and coordinated by participating conservation districts across Maine. The Maine Envirothon is a hands-on environmental science competition for high school students that tests knowledge in wildlife, forestry, soils, aquatics, and current environmental issues. This year’s current issue was “Non-Point Source Pollution: It Begins at Home!”
The qualifiers were held on the following dates and locations:
• Midcoast 4/28/26 @ MOFGA, Unity (hosted by Waldo SWCD)
• Southwest 4/29/26 @ Evergreen Outdoor Education, Auburn (hosted by Oxford SWCD)
• Central/Downeast 5/20/26 @ Logging Museum, Bradley (hosted by Penobscot SWCD)
• Northern 5/21/26 @ Riverfront Park, Houlton (hosted by Southern Aroostook SWCD)
Although the top three teams at each regional qualifier were acknowledged, advancement to the state competition was based on overall team scores throughout the state.
